Murphy's Law has hit again.  I went to a friend's wedding this weekend, which was in Montpelier, VA (right outside of Richmond).  It was beautiful and rather unconventional, like the couple themselves.  However, it was the most moving ceremony and heartfelt exchange of vows that I have ever heard.  It had almost everyone in tears.  The ceremony was held in a field behind a friend's house where the reception was as well.  People who wanted to stay there and party couple bring a tent and camp out, save money, not have to worry about driving...  My mother and I stayed at the recommended hotel which was not far away and just fine.  I knew with the medication that I am on for my neck that I could not drink, so driving would not be a problem.  My brother opted to stay in a tent there and party of course.  One of the times that I went to the car to get something for him, I managed to fall and tear up my knee and one of my arms on the gravel driveway.  Since the friend's house was in the country, they have some kind of burrowing critter (gopher, mole, vole...) that has made a system of tunnels all in the yard and apparently under the gravel driveway.  I learned this when I stepped halfway in one, twisted sideways and fell.  I tore up my left knee and have road rash up my right arm from the wrist to the elbow.  I managed to not get any on my left arm, but only because I caught myself and took the brunt of the fall in the should and neck, right where all of my pain has already been.  Yep. I'm just lucky that way...

Oh, I feel so sorry for you. I hope that ice and painkillers are helping. ♥ ♥ ♥

They have helped. After falling down, the biggest thing that hurts is the road rash areas. I am trying to keep the areas covered during the day, so I don't knock them up against something by accident. They are just really tender areas where I scraped away layers of skin. I am keeping antibacterial ointment on it as well because with my luck lately, I would get gangrene otherwise.

I've had a couple of cases of road rash myself (well, gravel car-park rash actually), so I know how much it hurts. I hope it clears up quickly.

I don't think that a bubble would help. I would figure out a way to get hurt inside that too. I am just talented that way. I've been blessed with many gifts in life, grace is not among them.

My neck is feeling better after the fall. A little sore after the physical therapy on Monday since they are making me build muscles I rarely use, but better from the fall. Now I am just tender from where I scraped up my arm and leg. Nothing like stripping off a few layers of dermis to give you some pain. Nothing horrible, just raw and tender, so I keep it covered in antibacterial ointment and bandages. I tried to keep it uncovered one day but I kept bumping those areas into everything because I am not graceful. Bandages it is. Seems to be working pretty well.

OMG! I hope that doesn't have any long-lasting effects on your neck! (Or anything else!)

Hope you recover quickly and with as little pain as possible!

The pain in the neck is gone, thankfully. Now I am dealing with the pain of the raw skin from where I scraped up my arm and leg. That just has to have time to heal. I keep it covered to avoid hitting against anything and to allow me to keep antibacterial ointment on it. (Let's face it. With my luck, I would get a freak infection in one of the cuts if I didn't.) Seems to be working and helping. The scrapes aren't are red as they were, but they are still tender. Of course missing a couple of layers of skin will do that.
