Okay, we took Mittens to the vet yesterday and we all expected to hear something along the lines of renal failure, kitty leukemia, stroke...  It turns out that she has two massive infections, one in her bladder and one is in her sinuses/respiratory system.  She hasn't been eating because she hasn't been able to smell the food.  We were very worried about her when she was so quiet and docile in the carrier.  (She usually fights like a demon when we put her in it.)  We felt much better when she went psycho on the vet assistant when he tried to remove her from the carrier.  I don't mean that we were happy that he got scratched up, but we were happy to see that she still had some fight in her.  We did warn the assistant that she didn't like strangers and usually went ballistic around them.  He just couldn't believe that "such a nice kitty" could be like that.  We told him that her "nice" disposition is what worried us because she usually isn't very nice except to family, and she can even turn bitchy-kitty on us at times too.  (She truly is an equal opportunity hisser.)  Anyway, the vet had enough sense to wrap Mittens in a towel before attempting to get her out of the carrier.  She did manage to get urine and a blood sample from the cat without sedating her, which is a first.  When she told us that the cat just needed antibiotics and to be force fed food until she could smell again, we were relieved.  She might be a total bitch, but she's still family.  We've had her for a long time, so it would have devastated us to have to put her down.  Big emotional roller coaster yesterday because of it, and I am still feeling the exhaustion of it. 

I need to finish getting ready to go to work.   I just wanted to send out an update in case anyone read my worried post, and I don't think I'll have a chance to do it this afternoon.  I told my brother that I would help him  give Mittens her medicine and food again today.  She took it well last night, but she was still too tired to fight.  Today may be a different story.

WTF?

My brother and a bunch of his friends wanted to go to a metal festival tomorrow night.  There was supposed to be a great deal where buying a four-pack of tickets brought the cost down to $20 a ticket, which they could afford.  However, when you added in all of the charges the cost was actually almost $40.  No one can afford that, so they are having a "F--k Ticketmaster" party instead.  That just cracks me up.

I just got a drunken phone call from a former graduate.  She just wanted to call and say hi.  I made her promise to have someone else drive her home because she was completely pissed.  I usually just get drunken texts from her, so it was a good change. 

Cat update:  My brother got the cat to eat food on her own instead of having to force feed her.  She has more energy and seems to be tolerating the medicine.  At least, she hasn't torn Derek's arm off while he is giving it to her.  It seems like she realizes that he is trying to help her.
