Nov. 4th, 2008 10:20 pmToday has been such a day of ups and downs. First off, let me tell you how excited I am that Virginia has chosen Obama. Almost two hours ago, McCain was ahead by almost 15%. Now, Obama has won the state! Virginia is a solidly republican-voting state and has been since God was a child. I tried to say that I wasn't going to watch the results as they came in, but it is an addiction. I can't not watch.
Now I will give the bad part of my day:
( Ranting this way )
Now for the good part:
I went to vote early this morning. I expected to have a long wait, but I was out of there within 45 minutes, which wasn't bad. I did find it extremely amusing to watch the collection of people that came out to vote. There were two little old ladies who were walking around, pulling their oxygen tanks with them. There was a goth couple with matching blue hair and black lipstick. My favorite group was a few "working girls" who walked in with their skin-tight mini skirts, cheap stiletto heels, and thick smell of sweat and sex. Oh, did I mention that one of them had an Adam's apple too? Yep, a transvestite prostitute. I'm sure that he was going to vote conservative republican. LOL!
Oh, this was also my mother's first election where she voted. I am so proud of her! She finally registered and voted. This was also the first election in which my brother voted.
I also had several visits by former students today. Our school is a polling site, and many of them are still in the area. They came by to say hi after they voted. That was cool. My ladybug came to visit me as well. Then a large group of us had lunch at a wonderful Mexican restaurant, and that group included 2 of my former students who are now teachers at the school. That was kinda fun. I told them that they could call me by my first name, but they both just said that they couldn't do it. It was cute.
Of course the best part of the day: PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!
