strange addictions
Jan. 8th, 2007 11:33 pmCan anyone tell me how it is that I can watch a movie and be lukewarm about it originally, and then as I watch it again (because there is nothing on and I like to have background noise) I become addicted to the movie. This has happened with The Jacket and with the most recent version of Pride and Prejudice. Ironically, part of the reason I watched them both more than once is because they both have Keira Knightley and I just like her. I am watching Pride and Prejudice again, and I find it more and more charming each time I see it. Matthew McFadyen is so adorable in it. I want to take him and squish him!
I am in a good mood right now beyond Pride and Prejudice playing because I spoke with my friend Tracy for two and a half hours on the phone tonight. We haven't spoken in some time. We haven't been able to catch each other at home. We've played phone tag for months. I have missed her. She is one of my dearest friends and no matter how long it has been since we've seen each other or spoken, we can pick up as if we just saw each other yesterday. We've always had an easiness between us from the moment we met. Heaven knows that either of us can talk up a blue streak on our own, so you can imagine how it is when we get going. I miss her terribly. I even miss her poopy-face husband, Steven. Actually, I love him to death. He is only hours older than I am, so I adopted him as my twin. He is the polar opposite of me though. You practically have to pull teeth to get him to talk. However, when I have called and Tracy has not been at home, he has spoken to me for over an hour. Tracy never ceases to be amazed by this because he doesn't talk to her that much.
This week is turning out to be better than the last one. Granted, the only thing that would make any week worse than last week is to have another student die in an unexpected way. Unfortunately, we usually have one student pass away every year, some from illness (cancer) and some from accidents. It's never easy, but the unexpected deaths are worse than anything else. Tomorrow is the funeral for our student, so I expect that there will be some weepiness amongst the students, assuming that the students that plan to attend the service even come to school. Over all, the students have been very respectful of Kristen and have honored her memory in several ways, including having a fund raiser and donating the proceeds to a trust fund for her little sister. It is at the worst times that humanity shows its best side. Funny that.
I must run. I have work to ignore and fresh linen to put on my bed.
