Well, we have heard back from or about every single student that we had attending Virginia Tech and all are safe and sound.  By mere chance or by fate, whatever you choose to believe.  Two of the former students skipped classes that morning, one because he didn't feel like going and one because he was studying for a huge test in another class.  If either one would have gone to class, they both would have been in the building, and one of them would have been in one of the rooms where the shooter actually hit.  Oddly, the counselor in me couldn't help but think that this was now giving them both reason to skip classes more often, which they shouldn't do.  However, this one time, I am glad both did.  We did have one former student who was in the building, but he was in a room down the hall from the last room attacked.  He heard everything.  He's doing okay, everything considered.
