You know what I love about buying frozen cookie dough as part of a fund raiser for the school clubs, besides supporting a good cause, that is?  You can make just a few cookies at a time!  If I make a whole batch of cookies at a time, I will eat too many of them.  On the other hand, with the frozen dough, I can make 3 cookies and that's it.  I can eat them while they are still warm and gooey every time that I make them.  If you have never bought any, I recommend it.  They are very good.

I hadn't thought of it like that - I don't do a lot of baking but I still have this ingrained habit of making the maximum use of the oven while it's hot, so I always make double batches of everything and then freeze them. Or eat them, which is not good for weight. Making a tiny batch to enjoy on the spot is probably a lot more sensible though.

I have a toaster oven which is the perfect size for just a few cookies. Since it's just me living here, I use that as much or more than the actual oven. It uses less energy and puts off less heat, although on nights like tonight, more heat would be welcome. It is just a bit above freezing right now.

I am definitely thankful that I live Down Under at the moment - I honestly don't think I could cope with your cold weather.

You get used to it. Ironically, I used to be able to handle even more cold than I can now. Growing up in West Virginia, we used to have snow and ice every year and definitely below-freezing temperatures. When we first moved to the beach, I would go out in a bathing suit in 60 degree (15 C) weather. Now, I am in a sweater at 60 degrees. There are some good things about the cold, like snuggling on the couch with a good book and a warm blanket and drinking hot chocolate or eating warm, gooey cookies fresh from the oven.

All your good things are, however, keeping cold at bay ...

Forget 60 degrees, I start putting on warm woollens at 70 F (20 C)
